Return To Training

Return To Training - COVID-19 Update

Over the past few weeks we have been planning our return to training and have all our fingers and toes crossed for a safe return from the 12th April.

I don’t know about you but this lockdown has been the hardest out of them all for so many and for so many different reasons; we are just so proud of how our gymnasts have continued to adapt to online training and seemingly taken it all in their stride, so well done to them all.

Also a big thank you and well done to you as gym parents, I am sure you never envisaged that your living rooms, dining rooms kitchens would be turned in to mini gyms for your gymnasts! Thank you for all the support you have not only shown to your gymnasts but have shown towards our club and coaches – honestly we cannot thank you enough.

So in readiness for our return we have decided to give all the gymnasts, coaches and parents a zoom break during Easter.

We will continue with our zoom sessions on Sunday 28th, Monday 29th Tuesday 30th March we will then break and return to face to face training on Tuesday 13th April.  Monday 12th April we will continue on zoom for the last time (fingers crossed)

Sundays will continue on Zoom until May 9th,  then we will return to Duston

We have kept the timetable the same as we did following the last lockdown. Below is a summary timetable of the sessions as a reminder. If you are unsure which group/sessions yours gymnast should attend please let us know.

We will be operating with the same guidelines and restrictions that we did before, and entrance to the hall will be via the back door. Please be reminded that parents will not be allowed into the gym, and gymnasts will be required to remove theirs shoes prior to entering the hall – Please consider this and wearing shoes that will be easier to remove to avoid congestion, and to allow sessions to start promptly.

Gymnasts must bring with them all their kit, we will not be able to loan any kit during the session. Please be reminded that Gymnasts are expected to wear club kit and have hair in a neat bun for all sessions.

Our group gymnasts (Espoir, Junior, Junior Nov, Seniors) will be continuing with their group work and therefore be collaborating in closer proximity and sharing apparatus. Please can you let us know if you are not comfortable with your gymnasts training in this way.

We are aware that British Gymnastics have launched a return to contact coaching guide however as a club we will not yet be operating in this way and therefore coaches, welfare officers will remain at a 2m distance away from the gymnast. We will keep you updated as and when we plan to change to contact coaching.

We will aim to train all the way through to the summer holidays (excluding Bank Holidays in May 3rd & 31st) and finish for our summer break on Friday 30th July. We will then return slightly earlier than normal on Monday 16th August 2021.

Please make sure that all fee’s are up to date before we return to training.

Please keep an eye on the Facebook group and your emails for updates.

If you have any queries, questions or concerns please let us know

See you all very soon

Billings RGC – September 2020 Indoor Training Guidelines

Due to COVID-19, indoor training from September 2020 will follow new procedures. It is essential all coaches, welfare team, gymnasts, parents and helpers understand and follow these guidelines. Anyone unable to do so will be unable to train as we seek to keep everyone in the club as safe as possible.

  • Start and finish times are staggered. Please only arrive at your stated time for both drop off and collection & maintain a 2m distance from others including our welfare team.

  • At Moulton registration will now be outside the main doors to the building. Parents will not be admitted into the building but should remain with their gymnast outside until the gymnast has registered. At Weston Favell the registration desk will be at the top of the stairs. Parents and gymnasts are asked to wait on the coloured dots (2m apart) whilst waiting for registration in both venues.

  • At registration gymnasts and parents will be asked whether they or anyone in their family either has symptoms of COVID-19 or has been asked to quarantine/self-isolate. Anyone exhibiting symptoms or who is required to isolate should not attend training. Anyone with a temperature, a persistent cough or loss of smell or taste will not be admitted to the session.

  • Please make sure your gymnast has been to the toilet and washed their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap prior to leaving home.

  • At registration all gymnasts will have their hands sanitised, with a suitable sanitizer we will provide. If any gymnast wishes to use their own they may do so in the presence of our team.

  • Gymnasts will be asked to leave their trainers/shoes in the corridor and enter our training hall either in bare feet or with toe shoes/socks.

  • Within the venue, all external doors will be opened to allow for maximum ventilation.

  • At each venue our carpets have been divided into 4 sections and spaced well apart in the hall. Gymnasts have been allocated a group (1 per section), with a maximum number of 12 children per group. We are following BG regulations on the number of people present in a venue and have currently allocated well over the minimum amount of space required per person.

  • On entry to the hall, gymnasts will be instructed to take their bags and water bottles to an allocated spot at the side of their section. Gymnasts must be able to carry their belongings themselves.

  • Gymnasts will then be guided to their area of the carpet. For our younger gymnasts this will be a specific spot to stand on – 4m apart. Our older gymnasts will be expected to socially distance themselves within their spacious area.

  • All gymnasts will require their Billings uniform and hair in a bun. They will also require their own water bottle and equipment.

  • British Gymnastics currently states that clubs are not allowed to share equipment with gymnasts on a weekly basis so all gymnasts must have their own equipment and bring it to each session. Some may want to purchase this either from Decathlon or iloverg.co.uk but we understand not everyone will want to do this. We are offering a loan of our club equipment via our club shop for £5 with an additional £5 deposit, returned when the equipment is returned. This will be for a rope, hoop, ball and ribbon. All items will be brought to the first session, where they will be fogged using Steri-7 solution prior to the gymnast collecting them – please bring your own bag.

  • All equipment must be brought to every session.

  • If any gymnast feels unwell during a session they will be taken to an isolated area and parents will be called.

  • If any gymnast or family member of a gymnast tests positive for COVID-19 following a session please let us know so we can implement the Track and Trace Protocol.

  • Our first aiders are COVID Aware and following St John’s Ambulance guidance on first aid during the pandemic.

  • Our COVID Officer is Dawn Wootton. At every session our Welfare Officers will be acting as COVID compliance Officers and reporting back to Dawn on how well our procedures are working and any issues arising. Should we make changes to this policy everyone will be advised by Email, Facebook and notices displayed at our venues. Please make sure our Billings email addresses (coaches@billingsrgc.comfees@billingsrgc.com) are saved in your address book to avoid notifications going into spam.

  • During this pandemic, email is the easiest and safest way to discuss any issues arising. Coaches and Welfare staff are always willing to discuss any issues or concerns or clarify anything via email. Please be aware we are all volunteers and also have other jobs so the response may not be immediate.

  • A full risk assessment is available on request.
