Return To Training

Return To Training - COVID-19 Update

I  hope you have all stay well and safe during this period of lockdown.

I now have the pleasure of writing to you to confirm that we will be heading back to training at Moulton as of Friday 4th December. Yay!!!

We will still be running our sessions in accordance to the Covid guidance we have been issued by British Gymnastics, and therefore it is really important that you drop off and collect your gymnast from the back door of Moulton College at the correct time.

We will be using the same timetable we had before, I have inserted this below for reminder. If you are unsure which times your gymnast should attend please contact us as soon as possible.

Gymnasts are reminded that they must bring their own equipment to every session along with a drink, parents will not be allowed into the hall and shoes will be removed before entering the sports hall. For ease & speed gymnasts are welcome to wear slip on shoes.

As we are required to ensure that there is as much ventilation in the hall as possible the back doors will remain open during the session, please ensure that your gymnast is dressed appropriately for the winter months. They may therefore wear blacks leggings/footless tights underneath their club shorts, hoodies will also be worn and gymnasts can remove these once they are warmed up. Please ensure your gymnasts has joggers & coats that then can put on before and after their training sessions.

Could I please ask that parents make sure fees for December are paid before we return to training on Friday 4th December. If you there are any concerns about this please email fees@billingsrgc.com

We will train as normal up to and including Friday 18th December, we will then break for Christmas and all being good will return to training on Monday 4th January 2021. Over these next few weeks we will be focussing on routine preparation ready for the 2021 competition season that we hope will resume. Our recreational gymnasts will also be finishing off their badge work. All though I am sure we will be able to find some time to have some Christmas fun!

Sunday Training –

Our  last Sunday training for 2021 will be on  Sunday 6th December, this will remain on Zoom. We had only planned to run Sunday’s upto the 6th to allow families to enjoy some much deserved family time in the run up to Christmas. Once I have confirmation of our bookings for January we will let you know when this will commence. I  am hoping it will be from Sunday 10th January at Duston Sports Centre.

If your gymnast is returning in September, please be aware that we have had to make some changes to our training. As we all know things are still a little different and cannot fully return to normal just yet.

On return in September gymnasts will be in bubbles of 15, and the carpet will be sectioned to allow social distancing. We have pulled together a full indoor training guide that we please ask you read with your gymnasts so they are clear what to expect when they arrive. Please return a signed copy of this at your first training session. If you do not have access to a printer we will have some available on the registration desk.

British Gymnastics currently states that clubs are not allowed to share equipment with gymnasts on a weekly basis so all gymnasts must have their own equipment and bring it to each session. Some may want to purchase this either from Decathlon or iloverg.co.uk but we understand not everyone will want to do this. We are offering a loan of our club equipment via our club shop for £5 with an additional £5 deposit, returned when the equipment is returned. This will be for a rope, hoop, ball and ribbon. All items will be brought to the first session, where they will be fogged using Steri-7 solution prior to the gymnast collecting them – please bring your own bag. If you would like to hire equipment this can be ordered via the website shop

Billings RGC – September 2020 Indoor Training Guidelines

Due to COVID-19, indoor training from September 2020 will follow new procedures. It is essential all coaches, welfare team, gymnasts, parents and helpers understand and follow these guidelines. Anyone unable to do so will be unable to train as we seek to keep everyone in the club as safe as possible.

  • Start and finish times are staggered. Please only arrive at your stated time for both drop off and collection & maintain a 2m distance from others including our welfare team.

  • At Moulton registration will now be outside the main doors to the building. Parents will not be admitted into the building but should remain with their gymnast outside until the gymnast has registered. At Weston Favell the registration desk will be at the top of the stairs. Parents and gymnasts are asked to wait on the coloured dots (2m apart) whilst waiting for registration in both venues.

  • At registration gymnasts and parents will be asked whether they or anyone in their family either has symptoms of COVID-19 or has been asked to quarantine/self-isolate. Anyone exhibiting symptoms or who is required to isolate should not attend training. Anyone with a temperature, a persistent cough or loss of smell or taste will not be admitted to the session.

  • Please make sure your gymnast has been to the toilet and washed their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap prior to leaving home.

  • At registration all gymnasts will have their hands sanitised, with a suitable sanitizer we will provide. If any gymnast wishes to use their own they may do so in the presence of our team.

  • Gymnasts will be asked to leave their trainers/shoes in the corridor and enter our training hall either in bare feet or with toe shoes/socks.

  • Within the venue, all external doors will be opened to allow for maximum ventilation.

  • At each venue our carpets have been divided into 4 sections and spaced well apart in the hall. Gymnasts have been allocated a group (1 per section), with a maximum number of 12 children per group. We are following BG regulations on the number of people present in a venue and have currently allocated well over the minimum amount of space required per person.

  • On entry to the hall, gymnasts will be instructed to take their bags and water bottles to an allocated spot at the side of their section. Gymnasts must be able to carry their belongings themselves.

  • Gymnasts will then be guided to their area of the carpet. For our younger gymnasts this will be a specific spot to stand on – 4m apart. Our older gymnasts will be expected to socially distance themselves within their spacious area.

  • All gymnasts will require their Billings uniform and hair in a bun. They will also require their own water bottle and equipment.

  • British Gymnastics currently states that clubs are not allowed to share equipment with gymnasts on a weekly basis so all gymnasts must have their own equipment and bring it to each session.

  • All equipment must be brought to every session.

  • If any gymnast feels unwell during a session they will be taken to an isolated area and parents will be called.

  • If any gymnast or family member of a gymnast tests positive for COVID-19 following a session please let us know so we can implement the Track and Trace Protocol.

  • Our first aiders are COVID Aware and following St John’s Ambulance guidance on first aid during the pandemic.

  • Our COVID Officer is Dawn Wootton. At every session our Welfare Officers will be acting as COVID compliance Officers and reporting back to Dawn on how well our procedures are working and any issues arising. Should we make changes to this policy everyone will be advised by Email, Facebook and notices displayed at our venues. Please make sure our Billings email addresses (coaches@billingsrgc.comfees@billingsrgc.com) are saved in your address book to avoid notifications going into spam.

  • During this pandemic, email is the easiest and safest way to discuss any issues arising. Coaches and Welfare staff are always willing to discuss any issues or concerns or clarify anything via email. Please be aware we are all volunteers and also have other jobs so the response may not be immediate.

  • A full risk assessment is available on request.
